I’m not oppressed by guns or war but at times I still quiver
When oppression comes through our doors, we all start to shiver
Tyrants grown from men, set to cause public hysteria
So the poorest of the pen have to flow against the river

People in power will distort mainstream perception
Saying work rate is high, crime is down – one big deception
Spreading reckless, infectious, vicious lies, through tabloid sheets
Knowing pretentious intentions will pass by with no repeal

Working class masses left in financial defeat
By bent bankers and MP’s who like to sit back and feast
On false inflation and taxes with claims that it’s needed
To keep recessions behind us and growth a chance of succeeding

Still we’re moving into darker times
With budget and funding cuts
And you can’t seem to read between the lines

Trying hard just to scrape on by
